Ouseburn

Ouseburn

Description

From Jesmond dene the River flows down in to the Ouseburn Valley – a hidden corner of Newcastle which must be explored to fully appreciate its beauty. Old flour and pottery mills have been transformed into artists’ studios and tech businesses bringing a new creative hub to the City.

Families are drawn to the area by Seven Stories the National Centre for Books and the Ouseburn Farm whilst later the thriving pubs such as the famous Cluny and the Ship Inn create a buzzing evening social scene. Regeneration of the fringes of the valley at the Sheildfield and Sandyford end are now concentrating on conversions and new blocks to provide high quality accommodation for students.

With this in mind the area will no doubt become one of the trendiest and most vibrant quarters of the city alive with culture and creativity.
